120 Albany St, Suite 100 (New Brunswick, NJ)

Beware of attractive, but possibly deceptive job ads which offer entry-level training in management, marketing, and sales especially if the ads state no experience required. If you decide to interview with such a company, ask many questions before accepting employment. Will you be paid minimum wage or commission? Are there company benefits?

If the job ad advertises entry-level training for sales, marketing, management "sounds too good to be true", be cautious and ask lots of questions during the job interview. Are you sure you really want to work on commission pay driving possibly hundreds of miles a week?

Beware of invitations for an all-day second "interview". If you decide to go to the second "interview", wear comfortable shoes as you will be doing lots of walking trying to sell door-to-door.

  3. No, it does not appear that the owner of The 1080 Group, Inc changed the company name to The Marketing Professionals, Inc. The website for The 1080 Group Inc, the1080group.com, no longer exists, and the telephone number for 1080 Group, (732) 545-0062, is different than the number for The Marketing Professionals Inc, (732) 246-2895. Buying a new domain name would just be $11 a year, but buying a new landline telephone number is at least $80 for the installation cost.

Many independently owned Cydcor licensees go out of business in one to two years. Cydcor leases office space around the United States for new licensees.

  4. I have a second round interview with Legacy Marketing Group. I can't help but notice they have the exact same address as 1080 did. Hmm...

    2. Same phone number, as well. And no, it was from a job posting on career builder, at least for me.

  5. I got a call from Legacy Marketing Group this morning. I didn't apply for a job there, so I googled the number they told me to call back on. Turns out it's the same number used by "The Marketing Professionals", a similar scheme based out of New Brunswick featured on this blog as a scam around 2010-2011. It seems to be one giant collective scam, whose branches are named differently to spread their evil more effectively. I went through all of this last year after putting a resume on Monster and indeed.com, these schiesters who prey on college graduates looking for work experience. I encourage anyone who does end up going in for that 2nd interview (aka first day of door to door sales) to come prepared with home made business cards, with a false motto. Something like "Legacy Marketing Group: Shoveling Infants into Furnaces since 1991." I might actually do this. yolo

  6. Got a call from Legacy Marketing Group this morning and they left a message saying that they had a few questions to ask and that I was a potential candidate for hiring. I did the careerbuilder/monster thing and within only a few hrs they called me. I didnt apply. With that being said i just want know if this company is legit and is worth my time or is it crummy door to door sales job/scam like some of these other posts are saying???

    1. Do you trust the reviews of people who have posted their experiences after their second (all-day) interviews? If you do not trust the reviews, you can accept the interview invitations and decide whether the door-to-door commission sales jobs with "management" potential is what you want to do.

Read the comment from Denise regarding 10 Inc/10Bellevue in Bellevue, WA, posted on 09/06/2012 and her reply on 10/02/2012. Denise went to the second interview, accepted the job offer, later declined the sales job offer and found herself a job as a web content producer, a decision she will not regret.

  7. I was offered a face to face interview from a Legacy Events Group in Nashville. I don't know what to think about this. It offers training for management positions and it is entry level. It sounded like standing in a store handing out product samples. They stated that it was an expedited training program to create marketing consultants, etc. Does anyone know anything about this company. I noticed that it is listed in the exact same location as a company called New Horizons also posting the same type of opportunities. I would have to relocate for this job...any info would be helpful. Thanks.

  8. I have the exact same questions! Did you find out any more information since October?

    2. Marissa, a company listing for Legacy Events Group, Inc (Nashville, TN) has been created on this blog for future reference and for job seekers to leave comments. If you already had a first interview with Legacy Events Group does that not mean that you had already travelled six hours for the interview? If you had already interviewed with Legacy Events Group, would you not have already discovered what the company does and what their retail event jobs actually are? If your first interview was over the telephone and you really do not know what Legacy Event Group does, Do NOT go to the second interview. If you really want to work for Legacy Events Group, ask LEG to pay for your airline tickets, car rental and hotel stay. No job is worth a six hour travel for an interview and relocation unless the job is a very high paid salary job with great benefits (health insurance, paid time off, 401k and stock options).

Marissa, before you waste your college education, time, and money (transportation expense) on interviews and jobs you may regret, research Cydcor affiliates and Smart Circle International affiliates. Beware of poorly designed company websites with pictures of satellite dishes and home improvement. You would be selling DirecTV subscriptions inside of warehouse or retail electronic stores, or trying to sign up leads for kitchen cabinet refacing inside of Home Depot stores.

    3. Thank you for the response. The first interview was over the phone, so I have not traveled for an interview yet. After reading this and more research I will not be going to the interview. I really appreciate this blog, you just saved me so much time and money. I will do more research for future jobs and will refer back to you if things seem to good to be true.

  10. In order to clarify any misunderstanding, Legacy Marketing Group and Legacy Events Group are NOT the same as Legacy Marketing of Boston.

Legacy Marketing of Boston is a separate entity and privately owned and operated. Our official website is www.legacymarketingofboston.com and legacymarketingofbos.webs.com is currently under investigation by Webs website hosting services.

We are not a scam and we are not an MLM operation. We do operate in the direct marketing industry and specialize in B2B marketing campaigns for small to medium commercial businesses.
