Revolution Marketing Inc (Boston, MA)

Revolution Marketing Inc (130 Middlesex Road Suite 13, Tyngsboro, MA 01879, 978-226-5385, Tyngsboro, MA) is a Smart Circle affiliate. RM's "guaranteed starting salary" is actually minimum wage if no commissions are earned for signing up DirecTV customers.

Beware of attractive, but possibly deceptive job ads which offer entry-level training in management, marketing, and sales especially if the ads state no experience required. Research the employment advertiser before committing time and money (transportation costs) to an interview. Beware of employment advertisements which appear "too good to be true". If you do go to the job interview, ask many questions about compensation and benefits.

You may or may not be interested in selling DirecTV satellite subscriptions and Vizio television sets, but ask lots of questions during the interview so you do not regret any decisions.

  1. Thank you so much for writing this!! I just received an email from Revolution Marketing Inc about wanting to set up an interview, so I looked them up and it looked VERY sketchy! There website basically says nothing real about them... Thanks for helping me figure out whether or not this was a scam!

    1. This is laughable to me, being an employee of a sister company. I have my own kiosk in SAM'S CLUB alright, what do you think that means? Do you think some hokey company can get relationships with these Fortune 500 companies like Best Buy, Sam's Club, Wal-Mart, Costco, Lowes, etc. if they weren't a professional team? Think about it. We sell DIRECTV in kiosks located in Fortune 500 Retailers. That's a no brainer! Katelyn, and everyone else, I'm living proof here to tell ya I'm rockin it and making more money than anyone who created or posted anything on this site. Thanks for your time! Bye!

    2. Smart Circle International, smartcircle.com, has the contracts with Best Buy, Sam's Club, Wal-Mart and Costo to promote DirecTV NOT the different independently owned Smart Circle affiliates such as Revolution Marketing, Evantage, Bell Marketing, ICM Dallas, etc. The big-box stores most likely charge Smart Circle a fee to take up valuable floor space which Smart Circle charges the independent affiliates. It is a fact that many of these independent Smart Circle affiliates go out of business in 1-2 years from founding.

Why be pressured to sign up for DirecTV in Costco from a Smart Circle affiliate salesperson at their table or kiosk, when you can sign up at your leisure via http://cw.directv.com. You can find promo deals for DirecTV all over the internet. If you do not have internet access, which many families still do not have internet access at home, you can always call DirecTV over the telephone for a new subscription.

  2. Thank you for this. I just got a call from this company wanting to interview me for their "marketing team." They had said in their post the company was located in Boston, when in fact it's over 20 minutes north of the city. Then I see on their company website they specialize in "marketing directly to the client." That's called retail. If these companies just embraced their work for what it really is, they would pull in much happier, better qualified employees. Thanks but no thanks, RM.

  3. I don't see how this is misleading...

"At Revolution Marketing, Inc. we specialize in in-store marketing campaigns for DIRECTV and VIZIO. We work inside two of America’s largest retail chains helping them promote their brand and acquire new customers."

I found out they have partnerships with Best Buy, Sam's Club, Wal-Mart, Costco, Lowes, etc. Most companies would kill for clients like these. "Sales and Marketing", "Entry Level" and "Management Training" sounds pretty straight forward, but that's just me...

    1. I work for them and I wasn't misled in any way. If you can't sell, you can't sell. I'm currently making a lot of money. I have my own kiosk in Sams Club. I have a great relationship with the employees, managers, and have never been happier. The customers love me and I sign up people EVERY DAY! I'm very happy with my career today.

  4. @ Melissa. This company is straight forward in the respect that they are telling you what you will be selling. Usually the guaranteed income/benefits aren't at ALL what you expect.
They can be misleading in how you get and retain leads, (traveling uncompensated in your vehicle, door to door sales, etc).

    Does that help?

  5. So, here is the deal. I went in for a preliminary interview. The office is clean and professional. The admin was very friendly, and there were 2 other people in suits in the lobby. I met with the Manager, Matt who explained some background of the company, clients, and the current open positions. I asked if anything was door-to-door, it is not, nor is it B2B or Telemarketing. I also asked if it was a 10-99 position and it was not. Overall, I was pretty impressed with the company.

  6. Well that same company now says you can do Secret Shopper and make $700/week with only 5-7hrs committment! Wow $100/hr where do I sign up!

  7. I also just got an email wanting me to be s secret shopper in my area and it would start out paying $200 per job. They wanted my address,Phone #, cell #, everything I consider personal information. I did email them back and told them I wanted information on them before I could give them an answer. I did not give them anything of mine!!
I found this site while performing a web search trying to find out who they were. Sure am glad I saw this and opened it. THANKS SO MUCH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  8. Melissa,

Go to craigslist.com and search for Bell Marketing Group, Evantage or ICMDallas. You'll find nearly identical advertisements there. I had the same experience at my "interview" that you did - fortunately at 46 I've had a few interviews and realized that something was "fishy". I won't be back for the scheduled "2nd tier" interview (watching Bob work at Sam's Club in McKinney). I hope you've figured it out by now and have gotten away from these folks!

    1. That's because, since they DO work for DirecTV essentially, the ads these companies place have to say certain things. They tell you what you need to put, if the logo can be used, and what you CAN'T say. Of course the advertisements are nearly identical.

    2. Michael, that is hilarious. Can you make this any more legit. You said, "I'm not watching Bob work at his kiosk in Sams Club". You aren't qualified to sell anything if you can't sell DIRECTV! Haha poor Michael.

  9. While I believe this blog is somewhat accurate in that maybe the job postings for Revolution Marketing are misleading, I also think that it's a job. In this economy, so many people are out of work, and this is an easy way to make some money. Sure, it may not be the person's favorite job, or be something they want to do for the rest of forever, but I feel as though if a person is in between jobs, this is a good way to become employed again. So go into the interview knowing what is posted in this blog, but also know that it's probably no worse than any other minimum wage job you could get.

    1. You SHOULD check them out if you have not already. I don't work for them, but I've had experience with some of the other companies that are a part of the corporation.

  11. Bell Marketing Group is not a scam at all. They are commissioned by DTV (how else could they use their logos and advertise that they represent them) to do their marketing and client acquisition inside of these Fortune 500 companies/electronics retailers? Yes, advertisements on Craigslist, CareerBuilder, Monster, etc., are all extremely similar. That's because DirecTV dictates what each company can/cannot say in job postings. Pure and simple.

Think of it like a fast food place - each location has the same menu, the same napkins, the same ads. Why is that? Because the parent corporation regulates these things for continuity and to avoid issues. Same with Bell Marketing Group in Allen and all the other distributors of DirecTV.

And, by definition, a scam is something/someone who takes your money and you get nothing in return. This is a JOB. You get paid. You get trained. You get PAID to TRAIN. And, to top that off, you don't have to have experience because they TRAIN you in the way that they and DirecTV need you to be trained. If you have experience, that's awesome! Everyone learns from everyone else. You get paid to train, you get commission on your sales, and you even get bonuses from time to time.

People who put out scam warnings like this are either disgruntled employees or the competition. I'm neither, but I have first-hand knowledge of the business because I thoroughly learned about it when my husband started working for Bell Marketing Group's parent company in Austin. I was also skeptical and read all this BS on these blogs. Luckily for me, he decided it was worth at least checking out. He now owns one of these companies (not Bell Marketing, btw) in a town with high unemployment. He is helping build the economy and giving people a chance at success with a company that was hired by DirecTV. How is this a scam?
