Accent Group Inc (Farmington Hills, MI)

Accent Group Inc in Farmington Hills, MI is a Smart Circle affiliate. Their website says they are involved with promotional marketing of cosmetics and fashion, but what do they actually do and what do they sell?

Beware of attractive, but possibly deceptive job ads which offer entry-level training in management, marketing, and sales especially if the ads state no experience required. If you decide to interview, ask many questions before accepting employment. Will you be paid minimum wage or commission? Are there company benefits?

About Us
We are a privately owned promotional marketing firm. The company was founded in response to a demand by local area consumers and businesses for a more effective, personal, and results-driven sales approach.

Clients
The success of our test market with a cosmetics promotion has prompted us to create an entirely new division within our organization catering to the needs of existing and emerging brands in the Cosmetics & Fashion industry.

  1. The "owners" name is Lindsay Schaible. The place is run like a complete joke. To make around $8 an hour you have to work 8am-930pm, and more on some days. If you interview you will almost definitely get the job. Everyone will be creepily friendly but the minute you question what is going on people get all angry and tell you that there is something wrong with you. You will be selling shit in sam's clubs, which by the way is all defective and broken merchandise. The markup is a joke, the companies they get products from make fake websites with out of this world prices to make them seem like a good deal for what they say is 70% off.

They tell you you will get to own your own branch soon but the problem is all the major markets in the us are covered. Basically once they move a manager out, the pyramid scheme starts again in an even smaller city.

  2. Hi, my name is Lindsay and I am a manager for Accent Group.

I apologize that our company has not been made clear but I would like to explain how we work.

Our company is not a scam. We run promotional campaigns inside of Sam's Clubs and Costcos in the Metro Detroit Area.

These stores would not allow an illegitimate company inside of them.

We run these promotions to bring brand awareness and generate revenue for our clients products.

Our reps are paid on an hourly OR performance base and is calculated by which ever is higher at the end of each pay period.

I do again apologize for any confusion.

If you have any more questions, please call the office at 248-254-3820 and we would be happy to assist you!

Also, feel free to drop by and see our events in a Sam's Club or COSTCO near you!!

She's full of it. This company is a dead end job. They wasted my time. This is far from a marketing job. It's equivalent to selling girl scout cookies outside of Wal Mart

  4. These scumbags are also using the name Gallant Advertising Group--but don't be fooled, it's 100% bait and switch.

All the e-mails say Gallant, but the woman who called slipped and said the wrong name. When you read their directions it says:

"We are located inside Hunter's Square Office building located across from Walgreens on 14 Mile Rd. Take the elevators to the 3rd floor. Turn Left after the elevators and take the hallway to the Left. Suite 316 is on the Right near the end of the hall. The name "Accent Group" is on the door."

Why on earth would ANY HONEST company have to lie to you, just to get you in for the interview? I'm glad I punched their address into google search before going to this interview, because this was the first thing to come up. So--thanks again to the owner of this blog, because this has definitely saved me a good chunk of my day and wasted gas.

I wasn't sure the last time when a company came up on here if I should go, just to see if it was for real--but NEVER again. Please trust me, if you're reading about a company on this site--DO NOT GO!

(Also, to the ignorant bitch that is defending her company--just because something is "legitimate" does NOT mean it's RIGHT! By blatantly misleading people and/or withholding information that would help to make an informed decision is DISHONEST and YES that does make this a SCAM--albeit a perfectly LEGAL SCAM.)

    1. I had an appointment with Accent Group last week and didn't do my research until after my appointment when I found this. There were people there interview for Gallant too which was confusing the lady at the front told one us that they both work out of the suite because the employees work inside retail stores and aren't in the office much but gallant works with the home improvement industry and accent works with sam's clubs.

  5. "Gallant" had just called me today to set up an interview for tomorrow. I was stoked to be working in advertising but I should have known it was too good to be true.

  6. I'm stunned to learn these revelations! Sorry, but if more than one person is saying it and they have worked for the company before, there must be SOME truth to it. I was interviewed a while back, but sales and marketing are not my thing. I'm not good at it and HATE working up close with people in a customer service environment. I prefer office/clerical/receptionist work.

Also, the day I went to interview, the receptionist, Ashley, was a bit snooty to me. She can't be more than 24. I'm 39 and I did not appreciate a 20 something turning her nose up at me and treating me like I fell off a dumb and dumber dumptruck just because I asked her a question. The job never seemed appealing.

I was told I'd only earn $7/hour and had to drive way too many miles for my 100,000 mile car with NO MILEAGE REIMBURSEMENT. It doesn't take Marilyn Vos Savant(Has about a 228 IQ) to figure out it just wasn't worth it.

And did I mention that another arrogant 20 something interviewed me at Sam's Club and implied that I was being "phony" with one of my answers? It took all my strength to keep from going 'hood' on her and slapping the taste out of her mouth. She hasn't been in the world long enough to judge ANYBODY. I'd make her cry with the things I picked up about HER character before she even opened her mouth good. She should consider herself very blessed that I'm a sweet person! But don't get it twisted, I ain't nobody's stompin' post.

    Thanks for the warning everyone!

  7. Suspecting it to be a smart circle/cidcor scam, I reluctantly went into interview with "gallant" a while back. I was a recent college grad looking for a real job (I eventually did find one and I love it).

Everything that people have already said is true so I won't repeat anything. They offered me a "position" on the spot and when I told them I was still interviewing elsewhere they said to let them know my decision a week later. I found my current job within a few days and therefore did not even bother calling them back. I suspect that they caught on to my skepticism and left me alone. I asked all sorts of questions that confused my interviewer (who was a complete moron by the way, who wanted me to believe he was a med school drop out who saw this as a serious money making opportunity).

Unfortunately, not everyone is as smart as I am and surely a number of my peers have been suckered into these scams. Please take my warning seriously and run the other way.

  8. Accent Group, Gallant Advertising, and Michigan Acquisitions are all the same bunch of hooey.

I went in for an interview with Michigan Acquisitions (at the 31555 location) and was told that they hire salespeople for their various regions, and if you work hard, you'll be moved to management in a matter of a few short months. (Let the Ponzi scheme begin.)

My interviewer, who looked very young, informed me that you must meet in the Farmington Hills office every morning before heading to your location, then again in the afternoon.

I began asking questions because things weren't adding up: he said that even though I live in Detroit and my location might be there as well, I would still have to drive to Farmington Hills every morning and afternoon. In other words, they expected me to drive from Detroit to Farmington Hills, then on to my region, and back to Farmington Hills - then home. WITHOUT ANY MILEAGE REIMBURSEMENT.

His answers were (at best) ambiguous, and when I started to dig he started throwing success stories and numbers at me.

I should have known - I received the call for the interview the day after I applied for the position, and just hours after my interview, I got a call back from the receptionist/HR director that I had been selected to come in for the all-day second interview. I didn't go.

All of these companies are a huge scam even though they might technically be legal.

  9. woooooooooooow I'm so glad I just Googled Gallant! I don't even remember applying for this position but clearly I did because I just got a call back less then 15 minutes ago to come in for an interview! Smh glad to know I just dodged a close bullet!

  10. WOW!!! Glad I found this. I will not be associating with this company or any of its alias companies.
Also, if you're reading this in the Farmington Hills area, Turner Enterprises aka Nars Group aka K Marketing Group, Inc. aka Three Seven Marketing are door-to-door marketing companies and very unprofessional. I declined an interview with Nars Groups and was hung up on. Extremely sketchy and unprofessional.

  11. Very satisfied I found this. I was offered a job by Turner Enterprises and turned it down. I was shocked that I got the job, but thought it was too easy. So I've had my suspicions about Accent Group and was interested in applying, but based on the comments here, I feel pretty satisfied that I did not apply there and that I will not apply there.

    1. I hear ya. I was about to go to an interview tomorrow morning for one of these scam door-to-door-sales positions. Thankfully this blog saved me from wasting my time, gasoline, and ink to print out another resume

  12. They are now also going by the name Proficient Advertising Group. I typed the phone number(248) 477-4331 into Google that was listed under the "Contact Us" section on their website and it brought me here.

  13. I posted my resume on career builders and these companies keep calling me. It sounds way to good to be true. So glad I found this site. Thanks in advance.

  14. This was the absolute worst job experience I've had; I took the position out of desperation to work rather than collect unemployment. It's a pyramid scheme-scam-type of job. They string you along with all these phony 'motivational' stories about people who have made it big in the business. They are all very friendly when you begin, but as time goes on you realize it's all an act. You work insane hours (8 am- 8 30 pm--that's a night when you don't have to work late) and make minimum wage-unless you get commission. If you question the system at all, you're in trouble. At first, they'll smile and say, "you'll learn that later." But, the management team is eager to turn people against each other. Furthermore, they preach about "professionalism" but can't seem to show it in their own actions. They hold their employees to standards to which they don't hold themselves. You will be coached by someone who you will realize is a hypocrite when they preach to you one thing but do another in the field.

If you show initiative by volunteering to put in extra time, pick up shifts or travel they will take advantage of that. They'll blow smoke up your ass about how that type of action will get you to the next level, but will suddenly find things wrong that weren't there before to hold you back. When they realize you're not easily manipulated, they continue to put in terrible situations to try and make you quit (so they don't have to deal with confrontation). What they tell you to expect when hired is not at all what the position/business actually looks like.

If you have any respect for yourself, stay away from this "business." You'll be overworked, underpaid, disrespected, manipulated & treated like a child.
