Beware of attractive, but possibly deceptive job ads which offer entry-level training in management, marketing, and sales especially if the ads state no experience required. If you decide to interview with such a company, ask many questions before accepting employment. Will you be paid minimum wage or commission? Are there company benefits? Beware of invitations for an all-day second "interview".

2. CareerBuilder ad states Appeal Promotions is the leading marketing and advertising firm in Jacksonville. Really? There are many marketing or advertising companies in Jacksonville that would disagree. How can you be a leading firm when your domain name was created on June 8, 2011?
3. CareerBuilder ad states "Some of the nation’s leading companies have hired us". The correct statement should be "We are an independent affiliate of Smart Circle International. Smart Circle International has contracted with some of the nation's leading companies ..."

Appeal Promotions is a legitimate event marketing and advertising firm. They were very honest about what the position entails and the salary they offer. I can tell you from interviewing with the firm that they do NOT do door to door sales and are NOT 100% commission. The marketing field is not for everyone, but if you enjoy promotions and events this seems like a really fun firm to work for. Totally worth applying and going through with the interview if you're looking for a career in the marketing/promotions/event industries!

I believe this company changed its name to "Elevation Only Events". I recently applied there and the address and phone number are the same as well as the job description and a few of the clients.
ReplyDeleteWhat was your experience with this company? I was offered a job in a training position and was told I would make 500 a week for the first 6-9 months, but could then become a campaign manger, making 50-70k a year.
Is this legit? I have a phone interview with them either today or tomorrow, I don't want to be wasting my time on something that doesn't put out ..
