Blog's Editorial Response:
1. Cydcor affiliates use deceptive job ads stating marketing training when job is actually door-to-door sales. The Cydcor affiliates call themselves "direct sales and marketing firms" but it has been documented by people who worked and interviewed with the affiliates that the primary focus is on door-to-door sales.
The difference between direct marketing and direct sales:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Direct_marketing
Direct marketing is a form of advertising that reaches its audience directly through multiple channels including email, direct mail, social media, catalogs, online advertising, interactive television, etc. Businesses communicate straight to the consumer with advertising techniques such as fliers, catalog distribution, promotional letters, and street advertising.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Direct_marketing#Direct_selling
Direct selling is the sale of products by face-to-face contact with the customer, either by having salespeople approach potential customers in person, or through indirect means such as Tupperware parties.
2. Many Cydcor Independently owned Licensees have gone out of business or they have changed company names within two years. Go to ripoffreport and read for yourself.
3. Cydcor, not the independently owned Cydcor licensees, negotiates the contracts with the Fortune 100 & 500 companies such as AT&T, Verizon, and Quill.com. Regarding door-to-door solicitation complaints, residential and small business customers would not know that the salespeople actually work for "privately owned and operated direct sales and marketing firms" and not the corporations that they represent.
3. Many Cydcor affiliates will deceptively state on their websites that they have been in business for X number of years and they have Y number of expansion offices, both are false statements. If a Cydcor affiliate states on their website that they have offices in certain cities, search for the company name in those cities and you will not find any listings.
4. Job seekers should not have to submit their resumes and then experience the infamous all-day second "interviews" rather they can read testimonials from people who actually second "interviews" with independent Cydcor affiliates. It is well known that driving drunk is dangerous. People do not have to drink alcohol and then start driving to know that drunk driving is dangerous. Former cocaine users say that cocaine is bad for you. You do not have to use cocaine to know it is bad for you.
5. The editorial staff (attractive, educated and successful) of this blog will not respond with the same profane language as the illiterate unprofessional profane Cydcor affiliate cult defender above. We will not discuss our private life and occupations. The purpose of the blog is to inform job seekers of companies that place deceptive job ads and to save job seekers time and money by informing them of the all-day second "interviews". If you are going to hire people to do door-to-door sales, say that in your job ads.

These fake "marketing" firms are popping up like flies! Every week or 2 weeks, it seems like a new one has job listings on Careerbuilder in my email inbox!! There's one called "Direct Media Acquisitions", and it has a main "headquarters" in Pennsylvania, and the only OTHER location is... all the way in St. Louis, Missouri. O.o WHAT?! And if you look up DMA in the Secretary of State of Missouri's business search, YOU CAN'T FIND IT! But you can find it by that exact name in the PENNSYLVANIA search.
ReplyDeleteWTF...?
There's one in Creve Coeur called "TOP" Consulting (not sure why the word "top" is in all caps). What a joke... And according to the Sec. of State of Missouri's website, the firm has been ADMINISTRATIVELY DISSOLVED (meaning that it must liquidate and shut down soon) since April 28th, 2011. Yet, somehow, they STILL post job listings on job boards...
ReplyDeleteWho knows, maybe the SOS's website just doesn't update new documentation quickly.
Hello.. I have interviews with both of these companies you mentioned (DMA and TOP Consulting). Should I even waste my time?
DeleteDirect Media Acquisitions is a promotional marketing fim, that differs drastically from Creve. Direct Media has a 4-6 month management training program set in place to help all of the representatives that work there to teach them everything they need to learn promotion-wise up front. It's a great opportunity, and I've found a ton of success in working form them. They provide you with 2 weeks of Paid Training up front where you get to work with the managers. You always get a paycheck here every week as well. And they don't have you participate in door-to-door sales like all of these other "marketing scams". Direct Media actually does promotional events, NOT door to door sales. Its a great opportunity if you like working with others, and growing your career!

I interviewed with DMA in late July or early August. The paid training was slightly above minimum wage. The "marketing" approach was to stand in a local Best Buy and solicite customers for DirecTV. This is not markketing and I am willing to stake my MBA from the University of Illinois on it.
DeleteDMA was founded JUST SIX MONTHS AGO, and they want people to believe that it's "grown so much", esp. in THIS economy... Fortheloveofgod...
ReplyDeleteAll of them are full of it and people need to stop wasting their time.
ReplyDeleteBig Sky Marketing in Boise, Idaho appears to be another Cydcor. First interview today and it was very fishy. Interviewer swallowed hard when I asked if I was going to be a door knocker. Not what I am looking for.
ReplyDeleteThe scam is not by the "offices", it's by Cydcor. They create all these "ICL" offices to pass on all the liability, without any of the expenses. Ask the ICL whether they have a contract with Cydcor or if it's with Quill, or Verizon , or AT&T. These poor "owners" don't own anything...they can't negotiate wages or commissions, they have no say in hours they or their agents really work, and they have NO IDEA what these companies are actually paying Cydcor to get these customers. They piss all over the "employee mentality", but they are really just 1099 contractors who work for Cydcor. They just aren't smart enough to see through the bullshit of it all. Don't waste your time arguing with them, they are literally brainwashed to believe this is the only way to be successful. You'll read far more success tories of other people who are far more successful AFTER they leave than you will hear of success stories from people staying. They have had a revolving door with roughly the same amount of offices as ten years ago.....
ReplyDeletewhat do you base this information on?
Delete"You'll read far more success stories of other people who are far more successful AFTER they leave than you will hear of success stories from people staying." That is what you said. This is what that means: The people that do well in this business are millionaires. There is no questioning that. The reason why people leave and are successful is because of what they learn in these offices. They werent good enough to cut it with the company but they still learned enough to move on and have a fair amount of value elsewhere.
DeleteI'm sorry I work for this company and it's not a scam they have a great structure, good pay, and great training on top of that not only in sales but also in how to run a business and manage your own people. People pay thousands and thousands of dollars for schooling and with this you have the opportunity to run and possibly own a business
