Develop Inc. in Schaumberg, IL is a Smart Circle affiliate. There is no contact information on their company website, but there is contact information on their facebook page. Very interesting. The company website Application page only requests your first name, last name and email address. It appears Develop sells via "roadshows" gourmet foods, skincare, cutlery, and household cleaners. Develop also sells windshield chip repair.

Beware of attractive, but possibly deceptive job ads which offer entry-level training in management, marketing, and sales especially if the ads state no experience required. If you decide to interview with such a company, ask many questions before accepting employment. Will you be paid minimum wage or commission? Are there company benefits?

  1. They work like all the other "We'll make money off you while you spend everything you get on gas" companies. 3 Rounds of interviews for everyone who applies. You get the job for just being able to breath and have a 2nd grade knowledge of the English language. Then try to brainwash you.
Luckily, after I left a large group of people I actually liked from the company followed in suit. I wish those people the best of luck and hope the manipulators will find themselves in a nice prison cell at some point soon.

  2. Ok so I had an interview by phone today with Kinetic Interactive Marketing. Kim called from a new York phone number, I applied for an event coordinator position and she said there was no type of position available, just a position as a product specialist promoting products on a commission only basis at SAMs clubs and Costco locations. When I asked about the company, how long the company has been in business and, where are they headquartered, she was at a loss for words.

Folks, there are about 9 so called marketing companies operating out of this address and suite number, search the address to see who is there before you waste your time on a phone or in person interview.

  3. After working for Develop Inc. for about 3 weeks I can only imagine the retention rate of employees can't be higher then 1% since starting with three other people I am the last man standing, I'm certain at least half a dozen other people I saw on my first day have been mia presumed quit.

Speaking to a sales partner I had for a few days who started a month before I did she also informed me that everyone she started with had also quit.

There are a few admittedly very nice individuals who I worked with my trainer included. One of there pitches to get people to sign on is with there "classroom experience" in the morning this is not a lie it includes role playing and product information as well as a small lecture by one of the (very small pool) of senior staff members. There are problems with this mainly the time commitment of this "job" the training which is mandatory and does not end (once you've learned it you start teaching it) started at 7:30 and ran for two to three hours followed by the commute to whatever gas station or costco you were working at that day. (all at your expense and wear and tear on your vehicle of course, something they don't deny in the interview process but don't mention the hour long commutes to some locations or even bother letting you know the mileage is a tax deduction)

All in all without even seeing the inside of a costco for sales (due to there incredibly long turn around time on background checks that costco requires) I was having a 12 hour day at develop had I stayed until my background cleared that would have increased to at least 15 hours since your told to stay until costco/sams closes.

New grads this is not the long hours and hard work your parents and teachers tell you about to succeed. You are not paid for the 3 hours a day they make you spend at there office and your out of pocket expenses (which include batteries and razor blade holders for your windshield kit will eat up your sales commissions)

Yes I said winshield kits and gas stations, why you ask? Develop has partnered with a company called chipeo windshield repair perhaps you've been approached by the baby blue shirt wearing "employees" at a gas station telling you there doing safety checks on windshields then offer to fix them for 40 bucks if your insurance doesn't cover it. This means rain cold or snow you'll be standing around at a gas station walking up to people telling them there windshields are damaged then doing "repair" work with a glass cutting drill you receive approx. 5 minutes training on. If I had left with a more bitter experience I would have reported them to the state for this. This unlike working at Costco offers no base pay only commission (20 bucks per windshield)so yes while part of it depends on your salesmanship a tremendous part of making any money doing this is luck there were a few days where my trainer (who was a born salesman)was barely able to make one sale himself (that's 20 bucks to cover the expenses of a 45 minute drive and to live off of)

My suggestion is avoid Develop like the plague, if your a born salesman and mind putting up with the conditions for two years you might be lucky enough to get your own office which means a huge chunk of every actual workers sales and a job that I can only imagine is 90% interviewing for more slave labor and 10% talking to Kim and her partners on the phone about how much money your office is making her. If this doesn't sound like something you want or can deal with just blow them off Im sure there used to it.

    1. Thanks. I applied for a 'mystery job' on careerbuilder (they didn't give the name of the company) so I expected them to be sketchy. I've dipped my toes into this type of thing after I graduated high school over my final summer before college. It's ridiculous, borderline pyramid scheming stuff. I suppose it's legal, but these guys are as close to a "scam" as you could possibly get.

  4. They called me as "Kinetic Interactive Marketing", but this is the same company I'm sure. The number came from 847-925-5225, and they left me a voicemail. They got my number because I applied on careerbuilder or craigslist for a job with an "unidentified employer". It was framed as a marketing position so I just one-click applied for the opening and moved on. They left a voicemail. Their address is listed as 2030 E Algonquin Rd. Suite 409, Schaumburg, IL 60173

    They followed up via e-mail:

Thank you for your interest in the employment opportunities with Kinetic Interactive Marketing. Today we attempted to reach you in regards to the resume that you recently submitted online for our current open positions. After careful review of your background, qualifications, and interests, we feel that you could potentially be a great candidate for one or more of our current open positions.

We will be conducting in person preliminary interviews this week. Please contact Chelsea Andrews at 847 925 5225 to set up time to come to our office for a preliminary interview.

  5. I got the same email and just received a call from the 847 number. I'm glad that I Googled the number and came across this blog about it.
I am not about to leave the job that I currently have to go work at a store or a gas station... uh no!
I got scammed about 13 years ago from a company that offered training for a position but got stuck in the middle of nowhere, without my car, and traveling with people from the office that called me in for an interview - 10 hours later, I was at my car and starving!

  6. I just received the same email. However I applied for a Marketing Communications Assistant position. I am not entry level and I'm not a sales person. I'm hoping this isn't a major scam but I am concerned with the lack of details in the email I received. The phone number goes to a voicemail for the HR department. I didn't leave a message.

  7. I currently work with the company. My first 3 months with the company I've learned more about business than 4 years of business school. I love the people I work with and the trainers who really go out of their way to help me. You get back 100% of what you invest in this training.
