Vivid Marketing Inc (Columbia, MD)

Vivid Marketing in Columbia, MD is an independently owned Cydcor licensee. Beware of attractive, but possibly deceptive job ads which offer entry-level training in management, marketing, and sales especially if the ads state "face to face" and "no experience required".

If you decide to interview with such a company, ask many questions before accepting employment. Will you be paid minimum wage or commission? Are there company benefits? Beware of invitations for an all-day second "interview". If you decide to go to the second "interview", wear comfortable shoes as you will be doing lots of walking trying to sell door-to-door.

  1. Thank you for this post. They called and left a voicemail, saying that "Career Builder sent" my resume. To my knowledge, Career Builder doesn't send resumes; you search for them. I had already done research on them and came to your conclusions.

  7. Have an interview scheduled tomorrow... Should I bother going? I asked about pay structure and was told there is commission and salary, you can choose. That made me raise an eyebrow...

  8. Do not go to the interview if you want to save time and money. Do not go to the interview if you do not like door-to-door sales for commission pay.

Do go to the interview if you like door-to-door commission sales and you would like to manage your own Cydcor local office. Do go to the interview if you would experience firsthand the infamous all-day second interview. Be sure to wear comfortable shoes for walking.

Every local Cydcor office is independently owned so they can set their own compensation structures. The following was reported by a former employee of a Cydcor affiliate:

This is how BASE PAY works, They pay you $300 in base and $50 per sale after 6 sales. An average week a GOOD employee will make 8-10 Sales, an average sale is worth about $100 on commission only so if you choose BASE plus and make 10 sales you only getting paid $500, if you are on commission only you get paid on every sale so you are making $100.

For "Traveling" They have what they call business trips, Basically 5-7 workers go to a far city where there are no Cydcor Offices and they put you up in a hotel for a week and let you sell in that city. They also have Cydcor Conferences a few times a year where you can go at your OWN expense. Lastly they have R&R for Asst. Managers and Managers only, You have to buy your own flights though.
