Beware of attractive and deceptive job ads which offer entry-level training in management, marketing, and sales especially if the ad does not provide a company name, traceable telephone number or company website. You do not know from the ad whether they are a Nigerian job scam, a company recruiting for door-to-door salespeople to sell phone service, discount coupons, expensive vacuum cleaners, cheap imitation perfume, or expensive cutlery. Do not get tricked by ads with "Fortune 500". Beware of ads which state "Pay is based on performance." The job advertisers do not want to scare away the job seekers by saying the job pays commission.

If you decide to interview with such a company, ask many questions before accepting employment. Will you be paid minimum wage or commission? Are there company benefits such as vacation and insurance?

The following job ad could be used for any American city as it has no company identification, no company website, and no telephone number.
