Driven Marketing Solutions (Pittsburgh, PA)

Beware of attractive, but possibly deceptive job ads which offer entry-level training in management, marketing, and sales especially if the ads state no experience required. If you decide to interview with such a company, ask many questions before accepting employment. Will you be paid minimum wage or commission? Are there company benefits?

People who interview with Cydcor affiliates are told they have the opportunity to be trained for marketing, management, sales, public relations, advertising, human resources so they can open their own office. What the job seekers are not told is that they are trained to open new independently owned Cydcor affiliate offices thus repeating the recruiting cycle.

Beware of invitations for an all-day second "interview". If you decide to go to the second "interview", wear comfortable shoes.

  1. All of your blogs about Cydcor were right on the money and match perfectly with DMS Pitt. I went to the first interview, it was rushed and pretty much scripted. They said the same lines that I've read about Cydcor over the last few hours "has Fortune 500 clients," "looking to train managers," and they never mentioned anything about door-to-door sales but after thinking a bit, it's obvious by the way they skirted my questions about sales.

I'm not even sure why I applied for the job. It was one of many I applied for one day and I didn't do enough research on the company before the first interview. At least I discovered this Cydcor thing before I to the second, all-day interview today.

I even saw people getting ready to go on the second interview yesterday and it looked exactly like some of the other experiences I've read about with this company (getting you to sell door-to-door for free for a day).

  2. DO NOT DO NOT DO NOT DO NOT DO NOT INTERVIEW FOR ONE OF THESE COMPANIES. They are popping up all over the east coast/midwest and are total scams. They go hunting on career builder for any resume, give you a preliminary interview, then have you shadow an incompetent rep for an entire day.

When I went for mine the guy was still going door to door at 5pm on a Friday...you ever heard the term pushy salesman? Every person has to be like that at these companies because they aren't selling ANYTHING. They just go door to door to adjust Verizon bills.

If you don't hit your quota...don't worry...it'll come out of your next paycheck.

I'm 22 and I promise over the next year I will make it my goal to ensure these companies are COMPLETELY exposed for the crap they are pushing.

  3. Unfortinatly, this just happened to me! Only I had no idea that the second inteview was actually going to be me walking around outside all day door door. It was 7 degrees outside and I was in a skirt and thin blazer because I thought I wouldbe inerviewed not walking outside!
Vairpoint in pittsburgh is also part of this, they describe it as an entry level marketing position which it is not! You go door to door for verizon.
