Impact Marketing Concepts (Tukwila, WA)

Impact Marketing Concept's client is US Remodelors. IMC would have people inside of Home Depot stores who walk up to customers asking them about remodeling their kitchens or bathrooms. Usually the pay for these lead generators is minimum wage or the higher of commissions for leads generated. How many days and how many hours per day will you be required to work? If you will not receive company benefits such as health insurance, you might as well apply for retail store work for the same minimum wage pay and get benefits.

Be aware that Smart Circle affiliates are independently owned and operated thus they can set their own employee rules and they do not have to provide benefits.

  1. Wow. I really think something has to be done to shed some light on the fact that Careerbuilder.com so easily and deceptively faciltates the unethical employment practices of these so called "marketing" companies. I submitted my resume to Careerbuilder.com five days ago and have been inundated with numerous calls asking me to came in for an "immediate" interview based upon my presumed talents. I went to one interview mostly out of curiosity and also hoping to gather information for a freelance article. My ulterior motive was somehow recognized and I was asked to leave.
These parasitical "marketing" companies make Amway look like a respectable company. Impact Marketing Concepts has a slick website but it is very short on the details. I guess the old adage rings true still to this day: If it sounds to good to be true, it probably is. And if you remember only one thing, remember this. If they are afraid, perhaps even ashamed, to tell you everything you want to know about the entry level job on the phone before your drive to their silly interview, you probably won't like what you hear when you get there. Trust me.

    1. I just want to say thank you stacy! You just saved me a trip from Auburn to Tukwila.
I moved back from Texas a couple weeks ago and have been religiously looking for work. I saw the ad for IMC on Careerbuilder.com and yes they have been very persistent on calling me for an interview. When I spoke with the "Receptionist" I asked her to refresh my memory on what the position consisted of, as I had applied for a million jobs in the last two weeks. She told me that they did marketing and advertising, and their biggest client was Home Depot. She said as far as what I would be doing, she had no clue! Then proceeded to tell me to come in for an Interview with their hiring manager and he would go over all the details. I told her if it was Cold Calling, or a door to door or a commission based job, I would not be interested. She said absolutely not! So after the phone call ended I decided to research the company a little more and I came across this Blog!
So now I know...! Back to the job search! It is very frustrating when you are out of work and you run across something like this. Thanks again for the Head's Up!!

  2. I responded to an add for one of these companies several monhs ago. Fell for the rather simple tactics. I went to the interview and after a short while found out that this "exciting business opportunity" invoved me hanging out in a Best Buy retail store all day and approaching customers about signing up for Directv(TM). Seriously, shame on this slime ball and more importantly, shame on Best Buy and DirecTv as well. It is obvious that DirecTv contracts out this shady selling practice to individuals that were too unethical to land a job selling used cars.

  3. Add 10Bellevue to this list of supposed marketing companies that trick unwitting individuals into walking door to door selling a product that no one wants, especially not from some schmuck soliciting strangers unxpectedly. Rainbow Vaccuums, Amway, and countless water filtrations systems are losing their monopoly on poor suckers like myself.

  4. I showed up for the second interview at one of these "marketing" companies in Spokane, WA back in 2001.
The receptionist ushered me into a side room and told me to wait for The Regional Manager to finish his meeting upstairs. I sat there for about two minutes before I started hearing a loud chorus of cheering coming from the upstairs area. People were shouting and clapping as if they were at a high school pep rally. I immediately felt my optimism dissolve. Sounded like a crowd of people trying to convince themselves into doing something they didn't really want to do. Five minutes later, about twenty five people came rushing down to the main lobby area. There was no door on the side room so I could see everyone and everything. The secretary motioned to the Regional Manager and he quickly came in and shook my hand. "Hey, Ron!" he said to someone in the main lobby area. "Come on over here." And so here came Ron. He was probably in his forties but looked to be in his fifties. He was wearing jeans, an untucked short-sleeve shirt and, I wish I was making this up, flip flops. I would like to think that he was simply hung-over but a better guess is that he was quite drunk. I was led to his beaten and battered mini-van where he showed me a couple cases of what looked to be dollar store flashlights and knock-off multi-tools. The SG Marketing concept was incredibly simple and doomed. As a marketing Consultant, you were expected to take these one dollar items and sell them to gas station attendant, hotel clerks, Fast Food counter workers or any other captive individual. For every item that you sold for five dollars, you got to keep one dollar, one went to your Sales Trainer, that being Ron to me, and the remaining three dollars went to Josh Anderson, the Regional Director for advertising and inventory support and control. I immediately knew that I had been duped but figured this was simply to depraved a situation not to atleast observe for a couple of hours. At this point, all I had invested was a about two-fifty in gas and about thirty minutes of time. Ron's first stop was at the local gas station in order to squeeze in about three dollars worth of gas, the whole time smoking a cigarette and coughing as though he was infected with something very serious. Then getting back into the van, he asked me if I wanted anything to drink and I said sure. That's when Ron suggested I go in and get us a couple of Cokes since he had bought the gas. "And how 'bout a couple of hot dogs?" he added. I said sure thing, Buddy, got out of the van, thinking briefly that I might as well get us a twelve pack of beer and make better use of this ridiculous day, but then changed my mind suddenly and sprinted back toward SG Marketing's corporate office. I was a pretty fast runner back in those days but Ron caught up to me about three blocks later. He yelled at me through the window, "Hey, where ya going?" I chose not to engage him and lost him by cutting through a couple of people's yards. "But you haven't heard about our incentives program yet...." I heard him yell just before he slammed on his breaks before running into the back of another car.
Back at the corporate office, which I now realized when approaching from the front was above a bar/porn store. Of course.
That was my first experience as a talented and business minded young marketing executive; a fairly bizarre experience and not at all embeliished. Months later, the Regional Director lcukily chose the restaurant I was managing to have a "job interview" with some young kid. Big shot Josh Anderson ordered them both a glass of water. I chose not to expose Josh for the greasy pig he was. Why would I want to deprive the young man of what might end being some of the most disturbing an entertaining two days of his wonderful life?

  5. Thanks for this website. I received an invitation to an interview this morning, and did a search as I couldn't remember which job it was for. I'll be darned if I am going to waste my time and effort on such a sham.

  8. I just got a invitation for an interview today and I went.
I was interviewed with the "owner" of the company. he really didn't explain what exactly I was suppose to do as a customer service agent. he said that I "passed" the screening interview today and congratulated me. I was scheduled for a 2nd interview tomorrow. his office is located in 651 Strander blvd Building B Tukwila, WA. I don't think I'm going back. and like some people said above I have also saw a group of people in a room chanting and clapping like they were having a party in there. little weird to me. if this is a scam we should report it to the BBB for wasting people time.
