Beware of attractive, but possibly deceptive job ads which offer entry-level training in management, marketing, and sales especially if the ads state no experience required. If you decide to interview with such a company, ask many questions before accepting employment. Will you be paid minimum wage or commission? Are there company benefits?
People who interview with Cydcor affiliates are told they have the opportunity to be trained for marketing, management, sales, public relations, advertising, human resources so they can open their own office.What the job seekers are not told is that they are trained to open new independently owned corporate licensee offices thus repeating the recruiting cycle.
Beware of invitations for an all-day second "interview". If you decide to go to the second "interview", wear comfortable shoes as you will be doing lots of walking trying to sell door-to-door.

Applied via email through Craigslist. Was emailed back to call to set up a day and time to come in. Met with the Manager for a 10-minute 1:1 interview that was extremely basic. Got a call back that day to come in for 2nd round which turned out to be following 2 employees around on foot going door-to-door sales. Asked random questions along the way and expected to fit in. Had final interview when back at the office with manager again. Asked basic questions and offered position.

100% scam. I interviewed with them a couple months ago. It is located in a sketchy looking building, which should have tipped me off to begin with. The interviewer was nice but asked me random questions like "if you could travel anywhere in the world, where would it be?" Seemed like something was wrong when the interviewer didn't ask about my work experience. They commented that they would contact me if they wanted me to come in for the second part of the interview which was an all day shadow. Not too long after I was contacted saying they would like me to come back for the second round but I had looked them up on the internet because I felt something was wrong. I told them that I didn't think it was a position I wanted since it seemed more like a door to door sales job and the HR woman, Shannon, seemed a bit perturbed a this observation. She kept asking why I had changed my mind etc. Long story short, don't bother. Glad this blog exists to ward future people from wasting their time.
ReplyDeleteThere a number of companies just like this (all in White Plains), all preying on individuals who are ready to work hard, but naive. I don't understand how they can make money, but PLEASE HELP OTHERS BY REPORTING THEM AS SPAM. They need to be put out of business.
ReplyDeleteLast year, my son went on numerous job prospects, all similar to that described above. On one of them, on a hot, humid day last summer, he went out on a full day of "job shadowing". He and 2 others went out with one "employee", drove to a strip mall in the Bronx and tried to convince passersby to purchase wind shields. ???!!! Of course, they didn't make a sale.
Again, not sure how they make any money, but it's a spam and a hoax. Don't waste your time.
I heard about the guy who owns this company. He's like some Michigan graduate or something. Completely and utterly a scam. I contacted them about a position, even sent in my resume. Later, after talking to the CEO and a bunch of other dudes there, I told Shannon to delete my resume and guess what, she like flipped out on me on the phone and was a little rude asking me why this why that.
ReplyDeleteThis company may sound legit but let me tell you they are no different from any other marketing company out there with cool names. Just google "marketing company entry level scam" and you will get all the information you need.
They use a pyramid scheme and when you ask them whether or not they use a multi-level marketing scheme, they will quickly tell you they don't when in actuality they do.
I know the CEO will lose this company. They will lose everything and he'll have to find another job or go homeless.
Isn't that something this is the 3rd scam company that calls me after putting up my resume online and just sets up an interview just because they liked my resume. Thanks for this blog, I always do my research on companies before going and wasting my time.

THEY PREY MAINLY ON RECENT COLLEGE GRADUATES LOOKING FOR WORK. THERE ARE SO MANY COMPANIES LIKE THIS IN THE WHITE PLAINS AREA ITS SAD. THEY CALL YOU IN FOR AN INTERVIEW. MAKE IT REALLY QUICK THEN HAVE YOU GO OLD AND FOLLOW TWO OTHER STUPID EMPLOYEES TO SELL VERIZON. YOUR CAR, YOUR GAS.
